Spray tank mix

Figure acres per tank and how much product to put in the tank from tank size, gallons per acre, and label rate — plus a partial-field mode for N acres.

When to use

Use this at the batching pad when you know sprayer tank gallons, calibrated GPA, and the label rate per acre in ounces, pounds, or pints of product.

Partial-field mode answers “I only need to spray N acres from this tank — how much water and product?”

How this is calculated

Acres covered by a full tank equals tank gallons divided by GPA. Product per tank is acres per tank times the per-acre label rate.

acres_per_tank = tank_gal ÷ GPA
product_per_tank = acres_per_tank × label_rate_per_acre
partial: spray_gal = N_acres × GPA; product = N_acres × label_rate

Worked example

Tank 300 gal, 15 GPA, rate 16 fl oz/acre:

Acres/tank = 300÷15 = 20 acres; product = 20×16 = 320 fl oz (2.5 gal) per batch.

Partial 8 acres: water = 8×15 = 120 gal; product = 8×16 = 128 fl oz.

Limits / assumptions

Assumptions: constant GPA calibration; rate is formulated product as labeled (not ai alone unless label says so).

Limits: no boom section math, no adjuvant ratios, no chemigation. Always read the full label for mixing order and PPE.

Responsibility: illegal or off-label use is on the applicator — this is planning arithmetic only.

FAQ

Oz means fluid ounces?

Yes for the fl oz option. Dry oz weight products should use the lb unit (divide oz by 16) or convert carefully.

What about carrier other than water?

GPA still drives acres/tank. Follow the label for fertilizer carriers and compatibility.

Multiple products in one tank?

Run each product’s rate separately; add each amount to the same tank of carrier. Check compatibility first.
